- As we sell batteries and accumulators or devices containing batteries and accumulators, we are obliged under the German Battery Act (BattG) to draw your attention to the following: The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin on batteries or accumulators means that they must not be disposed of with household waste after use. If batteries or accumulators contain mercury, cadmium or lead, you will find the respective chemical symbol (Hg, Cd or Pb) below the symbol of the crossed-out dustbin. Every user of batteries or accumulators is legally obliged to return old batteries and accumulators. You can do this free of charge at a retail outlet or other collection point in your area. You can obtain the addresses of suitable collection centres in your area from your city or local authority. For batteries that contain more than 0.0005 per cent mercury by mass, more than 0.002 per cent cadmium by mass or more than 0.004 per cent lead by mass, the chemical designations of the pollutant used can be found under the waste bin symbol. The chemical designations have the following meaning: Pb: Battery contains lead Cd: Battery contains cadmium Hg: Battery contains mercury
